Care instructions
Grow in moist humus rich but well-drained acidic soil. Azaleas japonica does not thrive on clay soil. However, this does not mean you cannot grow azaleas in clay soil. Simply dig the planting hole five times larger than the root ball and fill it with the right type of soil and the plant will grow there just as well. Avoid deep shade immediately beneath a tree canopy.
