The Plants

Euphorbia x martinii

Photo of Euphorbia x martinii

One of the most handsome, winter foliage plants, Euphorbia x martinii produces dark, greyish-green rosettes of leaves and lime-green flowers each studded with a tomato-red eye in spring. This evergreen euphorbia looks equally good when not in flower as it forms a compact, dome shape. It's perfect for a small, sunny border, gravel or coastal garden. Caution: Harmful if eaten/skin and eye irritant.

Care instructions

Grow in well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. To promote new shoots remove flower heads in spring after they have flowered. Cut back flowering shoots to ground-level in late summer or autumn. When working with spurges always wear gloves since the milky sap is poisonous and a potential skin irritant.
